kazimierz nowak at around 1930
in 1931 kazimierz nowak, a polish journalist, started to cross the african continent on a bicycle. 5 years later her returned to poland. due to his fragile health after the exhausting travels he died only 9 month after his returning – and soon got forgotten. till now. the crew of afrykanowaka rediscovered his travelogues, articles and letters – and plans to remember him by repeating his extraordinary trip. more that 90 people will cover 24 countries in as many months, travelling by bicycle, horse, boat and camel.
in january 2010 the egyptian stage of afrykanowaka led piotr t., magda, pawel and piotr r. from the libyan border over alexandria, quantara and cairo to luxor and finally aswan, where they handed over the bicycles to the team, which crosses sudan. I joined the egyptian team from cairo to luxor.
